The Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Stroke Teamwas founded as the first multidisciplinary stroke team in the U.S. in 1984. Joseph Broderick, MD, UC Health neurologist and Chair of the Department of Neurology, serves as the current Director of the Stroke Team, which provides in-person on-site stroke evaluation for acute stroke therapy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Stroke Team serves 15 regional hospitals and provides telephone consultations at more than 20 other regional hospitals.
The Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Stroke Team includes stroke neurologists, neurovascular surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, and neuroradiologists backed by a team of researchers and clinical and technical support staff. Based at the University of Cincinnati and UC Health University Hospital, the Stroke Team serves as a community resource to all Greater Cincinnati hospitals, while managing the stroke treatment program at University Hospital.
